Wednesday, December 17, on Zoom – 6:30 PM Program: Family Tree Maker 2024 Guest speaker Mark Olsen of Family Tree Maker will present changes to the newest version of Family Tree Maker 2024, released in May, 2025. Mark is the Family Tree Maker Ambassador to historical and genealogical societies around the world, working to support their members as they use Family Tree Maker. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Family History with a Spanish records emphasis. He has been working in the genealogy industry since 2007, and has been the Family Tree Maker Ambassador since 2016. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 on Zoom – 6:30 PM Program: Revision Lists and Metrical Records for Russian Jewish Genealogy Research presented by Richard Sapon-White (based on Lara Diamond’s IAJGS presentation on the topic) Russian revision lists (“census records”) and metrical (i.e., vital) records are significant genealogical sources for anyone tracing their family back to Russia, including what is now Latvia, Lithuania, Congress Poland, Belarus and the Ukraine. In this presentation, Richard will cover what sort of information is included in these records, where they can be found online, and how to search them, even if you don’t read Russian. Topographic Maps Of Eastern EuropeJGSWVO member Hap Ponedel built and maintains a library of historical maps and other materials pertaining to Jewish life in Central and Eastern Europe before WWI. The site contains various search tools to help visitors find images and information relevant to their research. Finding the right map can be confusing, and assistance is offered at no charge. Materials are in the Public Domain and offered free for download.
